Redlands Acre is a large
detached Victorian house set in its own
grounds on the outskirts of
Gloucester. The home is on a bus route
to Gloucester, which stops almost outside. Whilst it retains the
original
facade, the building has been extended to the rear to provide
26 bedrooms,
mostly on the ground floor.
This Home boasts a huge amount of communal space. There
are
two spacious dining rooms, a TV lounge, smoking room, and a large
conservatory. The conservatory is attached to the main building by
a
glass walkway, which itself offers another place to sit and enjoy
the
gardens in all weathers.
All of the ground floor rooms have an en-suite
toilet and wash basin,
and many also have en-suite baths. The home has
a Parker bath for
those who need extra help in bathing, and a walk-in shower room.
The home is very active socially, and
the residents often enjoy outings
in the minibus for pub lunches, trips and
visits. Those who choose to
stay at home can still enjoy games,
bingo and film shows. Redlands
Acre has its own hairdressing
salon and weekly visits from the hairdresser are looked forward to by
many residents.
The gardens are well planned and maintained, and include
a patio,
water features and a bbq,
offering residents an alternative to the lounges in pleasant weather. Redlands Acre is able to offer long term elderly care,
respite care
and day care. Redlands Court, a small complex of sheltered
accommodation, is situated in the grounds of the care home
and linked
by a glass walkway.
